Brrrrr. 38 degrees! We had heard that it may be cold so we were fortunate to stay in a motel for the night. As we were about to head out for our day of cycling a couple of firemen waved us over to the fire station to partake in a free breakfast(ham, eggs, sausage, pancakes, OJ and coffee). Thank you Kemmerer, WY fire department! Just starting out this morning we watched this herd of antelope graze on the side of a back road. It is quite different here in Wyoming with various geographic features much different than what we have seen so far on the trip. The picture of the plateau was one of many we saw today. I have included a couple of pictures to point out the various layers of of rock formation dating back 2.5 billion years. Earth itself is 4.5 billion years old. Wyoming is considered the fossil capitol of the world. A geologist, (Nicholas Warren from Littleton, CO) in Kemmerer, WY gave me a beautiful fish fossil from the Cretaceous Period 60 million years ago (Dinosaurs became extinct about 60 million years ago). We have noticed that in the west that there are not any fences or gates across the roads where the cattle graze. The cows will not attempt to cross these cattle grates in the roads because their hooves will get stuck in the grates as happened to me! We have now traveled 1000 miles!
